Former White House Counselor Fined $172500 by CFTC for Illegal Trading Using Trump Speech Information

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has ordered former White House teleprompter operator Gabriel Perez to pay $172500 for illegally trading on the Kalshi platform using pre obtained content from US President Trump's speech. Perez is required to refund $107500 of illegal profits and pay a civil fine of $65000, while also accepting a three-year trading ban. During his tenure from December 2025 to February 2026, Perez traded Trump's "mention the market" contract on the Kalshi platform.
