Kazuo Ueda: Interest rates will be adjusted based on economic and price conditions, and the market expects no rate hike in October

--

Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda stated that he will gradually increase policy interest rates and adjust the degree of monetary easing based on economic activity, prices, and financial conditions, and consider the timing and pace of adjustments after assessing risks and benchmark scenarios. Economists generally expect the Bank of Japan to maintain its current policy unchanged at its policy meeting on October 30th. The pricing of the overnight index swap market shows that investors believe the probability of the Bank of Japan raising interest rates this month is about 12%, and after taking into account the December meeting, the probability of raising interest rates has risen to about 90%.
