Seven UK banks complete the world's first interbank tokenized pound deposit transaction
Barclays, HSBC UK, Lloyd's, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest, and Santander, led by UK Finance, have completed the world's first interbank tokenized GBP deposit customer transaction. Lloyd NatWest、 Barclays completed two mortgage transfers, and three banks including HSBC completed peer-to-peer payments for simulated online shopping. The platform is built by Quant, with EY responsible for project management and Linklaters drafting the rules. The project plans to establish a company and develop a rulebook, issuing three digital bonds that can be traded with tokenized deposits in the first quarter of 2027.
