Base completes Cobalt upgrade, adding tokenized asset conditional trading and issuer control functions
Base has completed the Cobalt upgrade, adding conditional trading and issuer control tools for tokenized assets. This upgrade extends the B20 token standard, allowing issuers to set up compliance checks such as identity verification, qualified investor qualifications, and sanction list screening. The issuer may preset company behavior adjustments such as stock splits and authorize administrators to transfer tokens in specific circumstances. Cobalt has added Validity Transactions, allowing users to set on chain conditions to submit transactions that remain private until they are included in the block. On July 8th, Base adopted B20 as the standard for homogeneous tokens; Coinbase issued B20 tokens representing Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet stocks on Base on August 25th. (Source: Cointelegraph)
